Koah (north-east of Mareeba) - bushfire

Seven Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews are currently at the scene of a bushfire burning in Koah, north-east of Mareeba. The fire, which broke out on Kanervo Road on Sunday, 25 November around 6pm, is not threatening any property. Firefighters are backburning in and around Kanervo Road, Pike Road, Gilmore Road, Kay Road and Malone Road. Residents in the area are advised to keep their doors and windows closed and if they are susceptible to respiratory illnesses to keep their medication close by. The blaze is causing a large volume of smoke. Motorists are urged to drive to conditions and be aware that firefighters are working on and around the Kennedy Highway.
