FIRE BANS
Fire bans will remain in place for the following Local Government areas until midnight on Friday 6 November: North Burnett, Fraser Coast, South Burnett, Gympie, Cherbourg and Bundaberg.

Fire bans will remain in place for the following Local Government areas until midnight on Monday 9 November: Whitsunday, Burdekin, Townsville, Charters Towers, Richmond, Mackay, Isaac, Banana, Gladstone and Rockhampton.

Fire bans in these areas may be extended again if dangerous fire conditions continue.

The Rural Fire Service has put a ban on the lighting of all fires in the above Local Government areas, including permit fires as a precaution with high, and at times extreme, conditions expected to continue.

The following exemptions apply under fire ban conditions:
• The use of gas and electric barbecues are permitted provided they are not left unattended. The use of wood fire barbecues is prohibited;
• Fires for the purpose of disposal of animal carcasses are permitted, subject to the issue of a Permit to Light Fire by the local Fire Warden;
• Fires of commercial necessity are permitted subject to the issue of a Permit to Light Fire by the Area Director Rural Operations;
• Fires for the purpose of burning standing sugar cane for harvest in accordance with the established practice of the industry; and
• Fires for the purpose of burning sugar cane tops and trash on cane production land between the hours of 1800 (6.00 pm) and 0900 (9.00 am).

Gilston Road, Wondunna (Hervey Bay )- grass fire
Fire crews have contained a blaze at the end of Gilston Road, Wondunna, in Hervey Bay. The fire started around 11.45am yesterday in bushland. Fire crews left the scene around 11.30pm lat night after establishing control lines. Six rural fire crews returned to the scene at 6am this morning to monitor the fire. No homes are under threat.

Indooroopilly – gas leak
Three Queensland Fire and Rescue crews are attending a gas leak on Moggill Road near Woodville Street at Indooroopilly. Water is being used to disperse the gas outside a home while crews await the arrival of the gas examiner. No injuries have been reported and there have been no evacuations.



Yeppoon – car crash
Emergency services personnel used hydraulic equipment to free a driver trapped after a two vehicle crash on Tanby Road at Yeppoon last night. The 40-year-old female driver of one of the cars was trapped for around an hour after the crash at approximately 6pm. She was taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital in a serious condition with two fractured legs and a fractured ankle. The male driver of the other vehicle died at the scene.

Baffle Creek (near Agnes Waters) - single vehicle crash
A car crashed into a tree on Flat Rock Road at Baffle Creek around 2.15am. The single male occupant of the vehicle suffered multiple fractures but was able to escape the wreckage without assistance. The man was transported by helicopter to Bundaberg Base Hospital.
