On 30 September 2008, QFRS Commissioner Lee Johnson, in conjunction with Reliance Petroleum Sales Development Manager Tom O’Brien, were pleased to officially launch the partnership between the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and Reliance Petroleum and BP, with the handover of the first of 20 slip-on units to the Grant Rural Fire Brigade.

This exciting partnership between Reliance Petroleum and the QFRS will see very deserving Rural Fire Brigades across Queensland obtain a vital piece of firefighting equipment that will assist them in the years to come. Under the agreement, Reliance Petroleum will supply 4 new Slip On units in each of the designated 5 regions of Queensland. These regions include Far Northern, Northern, Central, South Western and North Coast.

These units hold up to 500 litres of water and have been developed to mount on to utilities and trucks. They are ideal for small fires, use within multiple vehicles and chemical spill clean ups. Each of these units cost $4800.  Rural Operations, QFRS is sponsoring speed loaders to accompany these slip on units.

On behalf of the 20 brigades who have now received their slip on units, Rural Operations would like to thank Reliance Petroleum for their continued support of the Rural Fire Service in Queensland.
