Permits to Light a Fire
| > | Persons wishing to light fires in the open that are larger than 2 metres dimension in any direction are required to apply for a 'Permit to Light a Fire' from a fire warden. Further information about fire wardens is obtainable from local fire stations (urban areas) or QFRS rural fire service offices (rural areas). | |
| > | When an application is made for a 'Permit to Light a Fire', an authorised fire officer or fire warden (whichever applies) may impose conditions on a permit to reduce unwanted risk or nuisance to other persons, property and the environment. Where this cannot be achieved the fire warden may refuse to issue a permit. | |
| > | In considering an application for a permit to light a fire the fire warden will take into account any local law of a local government which prohibits the lighting of fires in the area in which it is proposed to llight the fire and whether alternative means of disposal other than fire are more appropriate. |
