Permit Period
In Queensland, weather conditions can change rapidly and as a result the time available to conduct a successful burn can be short. The practice of the Rural Fire Service is to keep the permit duration as soon as practicable and be the minimum period necessary to carrying out the burn under the provisions of the permit.
The Permit to Light Fire will include a date range for when the permittee is allowed to burn eg. from 1st to 30th June. Permits are usually issued for one month - lengthy permits are not encouraged.
If a permit expires and the fire is still burning, you must contact the Fire Warden prior to expiry and the Fire Warden may extend the period, issue a new permit or require you to extinguish the fire.
